Cry if I want to?

While the workers' ongoing struggle for equality, justice, and autonomy--the central cause for celebration of MAY DAY: THE AFTERPARTY (a CHRONICA 2007 presentation)--should by no means be overshadowed, it is, perhaps, not unacceptable to mention that THE AFTERPARTY is also a preparty--for my birthday.

That's right. On May 11 this comrade turns 26. So, as Saturday night lurches into Sunday morning, maybe we will sing a special version of the Internationale, one with an extra verse at the end.

Arise ye workers from your slumbers
Arise ye prisoners of want
For reason in revolt now thunders
And at last ends the age of cant.
Away with all your superstitions
Servile masses arise, arise
We'll change henceforth the old tradition
And spurn the dust to win the prize.

So comrades, come rally
And the last fight let us face
The Internationale unites the human race.
So comrades, come rally
And the last fight let us face
The Internationale unites the human race.

No more deluded by reaction
On tyrants only we'll make war
The soldiers too will take strike action
They'll break ranks and fight no more
And if those cannibals keep trying
To sacrifice us to their pride
They soon shall hear the bullets flying
We'll shoot the generals on our own side.

No saviour from on high delivers
No faith have we in prince or peer
Our own right hand the chains must shiver
Chains of hatred, greed and fear
E'er the thieves will out with their booty
And give to all a happier lot.
Each at the forge must do their duty
And we'll strike while the iron is hot.

But let us sing of one brave comrade
Turning twenty-six anon

He doesn't give a shit about Kronstadt
So long as his drink is poured strong
So put some water in the kettle
And boil it 'til it's good and hot
Each of us will test Wach's mettle
By handing him another shot

Hey Wachsmuth, nice extra verse. It sounded especially good when you sang it in the shower this morning at 2 am. Shit, this is going to be a hell of a party--even if it does get you kicked out of the Party. Seriously--what's the deal with hating on Kronstadt? Tommunist is gonna freak.
